    Description of Differential Repair

The differential is responsible for the transfer of the power of the engine to the wheels. It also compensates for changes in wheel speed and adjusts them as the vehicle goes around turns. If the car is making a turn, the inner wheel is slower than the outer wheel, which needs to turn quicker to keep up with the internal wheel. The differential allows the wheels to turn while retaining power at various speeds. For an unstable, rough ride, a vehicle without a differential will hop and bum along the pavement. Four-wheel-drive vehicles are fitted with front and back differentials, while rear-wheel-drive-vehicles are fitted with a back differential. The differential of a front wheel drive, called the transaxle, is located between the front wheels because of the functional combination of front axle and transmission. All-wheel drive vehicles are fitted with a transfer case between the front and rear wheels. The case accounts for variations in velocity between the front and rear wheels. The differential is mainly responsible for the routing and control of power between wheels in all vehicle applications.

    Benefits of Differential Repair

If your car or truck has four-wheel drive, front wheel drive, or rear wheel drive, your car has a differential that sheds and tears heavily. When scheduling a differential repair service, remember where you most often drive and how much time your vehicle spends traversing various terrain types. Tougher terrain — like dirt roads, unpaved roads or gravel roads — and rough driving may have a greater effect on the differential life of your car. Maintenance can vary from vehicle to vehicle for the differentials. A differential fluid shift will positively impact the safety and health of your vehicle as part of your usual car maintenance schedule. Noise from the differential of your vehicle may be a sign of inadequate lubricant, or worn gears and bearings due to normal wear and tear. Contact us at the first sign of trouble, so we can quickly diagnose and fix the problem.
